Resources Mentioned:

what meal planning is perceived as:

  • hours of prep

  • wasting food

  • boring healthy food

  • do it once and it was so overwhelming you don’t do it again

what effective meal planning does:

  • simplifies your week — reduces decision fatigue and considers your logistic needs

  • Makes meeting nutrition goals systematic — no guessing in the moment

  • It creates an opportunity to learn nutrition. And When you’re learning nutrition, this is a MUST.

  • Reduces waste and trims spending

  • takes into consideration your schedule and capacity and actually reducing stress

  • it does not always mean prep

Why I tagged on “time management” do this title: if you aren’t taking your schedule and time into consideration, you can be sure you won’t be able to execute any kind of meal planning. You may plan something that doesn’t coincide with your time and capacity.

steps to effective meal planning:

  • step one — saturday or sunday meeting

  • step two — take inventory

  • step three — meal plan based on inventory, schedule, and nutrition goals.

my meal planning schedule hack:

  • plan sunday-wednesday night for dinners

  • do a quick inventory and plan for thursday-sunday morning

  • I keep the same breakfast, lunch, and snack on weekdays.

  • I let dinners vary based on schedule

Important reminder: stay intentional while being willing to pivot
